A private client got in touch with a request for a clean yet elegant aesthetic for their wedding ring. Together, we settled on creating the piece with a handcrafted platinum band offset with an Australian sapphire.
Vicki is a very talented art jeweller whom I have known for many years, so I was thrilled when she agreed to make my engagement and wedding rings. It was a tricky commission as we were in the UK and unable to travel to Australia, and Vicki was very patient with me during the exchange of ideas - I really admired her ingenuity as the design evolved and making got underway. It was quite an exciting experience on my part to work with Vicki from a collaborative concept to a beautiful finished item, that I wear every day and often receive compliments.
The rings are exactly what we had in mind, and I could not recommend Vicki highly enough as an artist, maker, and collaborator. This custom commission was for a wedding anniversary lapel pin for a lovely client who grew up in the Blue Mountains. This particular form — that of a leaf from a Southern Blue Gum was decided upon as a symbolic representation of his memories from his childhood home.
Made in oxidised sterling silver the pin can either sit on a lapel or be worn brooch style on a shirt or jacket.
