The trees have names
What the trees do for us pins and pendants are inspired by Spanish metal ex voto objects. They are jewels however as expressions of veneration, thanks and reverence for all trees do for us. They seek to remind us of the often functional role of trees which are often in service to us doing jobs like countering climate change, providing environmental, social and economic benefits.
This exhibition was shown at Studio Ingot in Melbourne in August – September as part of the jewellery and object festival Radiant Pavilion in 2017. It then travelled to Shanghai where it was shown at San W Studio Gallery and San W Gallery on the Bund in September and October 2018. Vicki undertook a residency and taught while this work was being exhibited.
